Poem No. 1

Granted Revelation of The Universe
In response to the song “Echoes” by Pink Floyd

“If ever there was a time the Earth went untouched, it must have been breathtaking. The reason man destroyed it: he could not breathe, for his breath was literally taken.” –Anonymous

I’ve never known the world in any other way: as it is now, as you have made it, as we create it.
The world is smart, it will correct us.
The Earth revolves around balance, as we revolve around the Earth.

I hear an echo, when I whisper near the ocean.
I hear waves crash, I see water speaking to me.
I decode, but not in English.
I respond, in communication.
I close my eyes, and feel the silence, alone on a beach, behind the house I grew up in.
There is a curse set upon this Earth that we are all a part of.

When strangers exchange glances, that curse is understood,
if only for a moment, what was lost echoes in their eyes.

We all long to be free; we are all searching for that freedom.

I wonder if the universe knows
we are a way to know itself.

We are each other,
echoed.
